Thank you for your letter dated February 1 2000 regarding work recently undertaken by our firm.

We are a company that prides itself on customer loyalty, and I was disappointed to learn of your dissatisfaction with the work carried out on your XYZ Corp television on January 1 2000.

Unfortunately, as with any machine, the slightest problem causes serious disruption. I have spoken with the engineers in question. They informed me that the broken component was identified quickly, and would normally have been replaced immediately. However, due to high demand at our suppliers we have a shortage of these components.

We have spoken with our German office, and can assure you that the component will arrive next week, at which stage we will ensure it is installed immediately
